More Than 45 Years of Recreation Experience

Skillful Home Recreation was founded in Portland, Maine, in 1978. Since then, the company has helped generations of Maine families and organizations create places for relaxation, recreation and time together.

Our Story

Skillful Home Recreation is owned by AJ Jones and his longtime business partners, Andrew and Tiffany Marianaski. AJ leads the company’s day-to-day operations and is the person most customers, manufacturers and project partners know as the face of Skillful.

The current chapter of the Skillful story began in 2009, when AJ, Andrew and Tiffany took ownership of the longtime Portland company.

In 2014, Skillful moved to its present showroom at 533 Forest Avenue and became Southern Maine’s exclusive Bullfrog Spas dealer. The Forest Avenue showroom allowed the company to expand its displays and create a private wet-test room where customers can experience a Bullfrog Spa before making a decision.

Over the years, Skillful has continued to evolve. The company has expanded its hot-tub, swim-spa, game-room, play and recreation-planning expertise while remaining grounded in the same values: personal guidance, quality products, professional work and long-term local relationships.

Today, Skillful serves individual homeowners as well as residential communities, clubs, hospitality properties and other organizations with recreation projects throughout Maine and parts of New Hampshire.
