Creating a Place Families Remember

Many adults can remember a playground that seemed impossibly large when they were young.

The fort felt like a castle. The bridge felt a little daring. The slide felt much taller than it probably was. For a few hours, a playground wasn’t simply something to do—it became an entire world of adventure, imagination, and possibility.

That feeling is part of what makes great playgrounds special.

When families travel together, children are looking for experiences of their own. A thoughtfully designed play village gives them a place to explore, invent games, make friends, and create memories that often become part of the trip itself.

This spring, Skillful Home Recreation completed the delivery and installation of a large Rainbow Play Village at a family lodging destination near Acadia National Park.

Creating a Place Kids Remember

Families visit Maine for many reasons—time outdoors, beautiful scenery, slower days, and shared experiences.

For lodging properties that welcome families, creating spaces where children can play and explore can become an important part of the guest experience.

The result is a substantial Rainbow Play Village that gives children a place of their own while fitting naturally into the wooded setting.

Surrounded by woods and open space, the playground feels like a natural part of the property and an inviting place for children to gather, explore, and create adventures of their own.

A Rainbow Play Village

Rainbow Play Systems is known for large cedar play structures that combine climbing, swinging, sliding, and imaginative play into a single connected environment.

This installation includes multiple towers, elevated walkways, climbing features, enclosed slides, activity areas, and enough space for many children to play at once.

For younger guests, it offers endless opportunities for exploration. For parents and grandparents, it provides something equally valuable: a place where children naturally gather, play, and create their own adventures.

From Empty Space to Play Village

Looking at the finished playground, it’s easy to forget what goes into a project of this scale.

The play village was ordered well in advance and scheduled for installation this spring. Skillful Home Recreation handled delivery and professional installation on site.

Over several days, the installation progressed from a collection of posts, platforms, slides, roofs, and cedar components into a fully assembled play village. Watching it take shape offered a real appreciation for both the size of the structure and the craftsmanship involved in bringing it together.

The completed Rainbow Play Village blends naturally into the landscape while providing a major recreational amenity for families visiting the property.

For some children, it will simply be a playground.

For others, it may become the fort, castle, pirate ship, clubhouse, or adventure they remember years from now when they think back on a family trip to Maine.
