Pool Table Accessories at Skillful Home Recreation
The right accessories make a big difference in how your pool table looks, plays, and fits into your home.
At Skillful Home Recreation in Portland, Maine, we’ve been helping Mainers make home the best place to play since 1978 —
choosing accessories that truly matter for how you enjoy your table, not just the ones that fill a shelf.
Whether you’re updating a table you’ve had for years or finishing a brand-new Olhausen or Brunswick, we can
help you put together the right combination of cloth, racks, balls, care tools, and a few fun extras.
Cloth & Pool Table Covers
Pool table cloth does more than change the color of your table — it affects speed, control, and how every shot feels.
We offer quality cloth options in a range of colors, and we can help you choose what fits both your home and the way you like to play.
- Standard and upgraded cloth options for casual play or more serious players
- Wide range of color choices to coordinate with your room and décor
- Professional installation by experienced technicians
- Re-clothing for older tables to freshen the look and improve play
We also carry table covers to protect your investment from dust, pets, sunlight, and everyday life. A good cover can add years to the life
of your cloth and finish.
Not sure if it’s time to re-cloth your table? Bring us a few photos, or give us a call and we’ll help you decide.
Q: Do you carry Simonis cloth?
A: Yes. Simonis is our preferred upgrade when customers want better play, longer life, and a cleaner, more consistent surface.
It’s the only textile mill in the world dedicated exclusively to cue-sport cloth, and its tightly woven worsted wool creates a smooth,
nap-free surface so balls roll true instead of following grooves or tracks.
For players who care about the details, Simonis’ worsted construction resists shedding and pilling, reduces chalk build-up and friction burns,
and helps your table stay faster and more predictable for years.
As an Authorized Olhausen Dealer, we’re also able to offer Simonis 760 SR™, a stain-resistant Simonis cloth available
exclusively through Olhausen dealers in the U.S. and Canada.

Pool Cue Racks
Cue racks keep your cues safe, straight, and close at hand — and they’re one of the easiest ways to make your game room feel finished.
We offer a selection of floor and wall racks in styles and finishes that coordinate beautifully with many of the pool tables we carry.
For tables without a built-in drawer option, a rack is the best way to store cues safely and protect your cloth.

Highlight: The Monarch Deluxe Cue Rack
This Olhausen Monarch Deluxe cue rack is built to coordinate beautifully with your Olhausen pool table and makes a substantial, furniture-quality
addition to your game room. Like Olhausen tables, their cue racks are hand-crafted in their Portland, Tennessee facility and backed by a
Lifetime Warranty when purchased through an authorized dealer like Skillful Home Recreation.
Q: Do you carry cue racks that match my table and game room?
A: Yes. Both Olhausen and Brunswick make cue racks designed to coordinate in style and finish with many of their pool tables and game tables.
If you’d like a rack that closely matches your specific table, let us know the brand, style, and finish you have or are considering.
We’ll walk you through your best options.
Pool Balls, Racks & Play Packages
A good set of balls and a solid rack make your game feel smooth and consistent. We carry quality cue ball and billiard ball sets,
plus both triangle and diamond racks for 8-ball and 9-ball play.
- Standard and premium ball sets for different levels of play
- Triangle and diamond racks
- Replacement cue balls and specialty balls
- Scoring tools, tally balls, and basic accessories
If you’re starting from scratch, we can put together a play package that includes balls, racks, brushes, chalk, and other basics so you’re ready to play
the day your table is installed.
Q: Do you carry Aramith pool balls?
A: Yes. Aramith balls are our preferred choice when customers want a higher-quality ball set.
They’re known for exceptional durability, consistent weight and roll, and a long-lasting finish — all of which add up to better play and value over time.
For players who love the details, most recreational ball sets are made from polyester. Aramith uses a high-density
phenolic resin that’s harder, more durable, and more consistent from ball to ball. That means cleaner contact points, truer collisions,
and less “flat spotting” over time.
Both Olhausen and Brunswick also offer excellent play packages that bundle balls, racks, cues, and core accessories.
These sets are a terrific value — often far less than buying each piece separately — and are a smart way to outfit a new table.

- Chalk, tip shapers, and burnishers
- Gloves, joint protectors, and extensions

Pool Table Care & Maintenance
A well-cared-for table plays better and looks better for years. In addition to cloth and covers, we can help with the tools and services that keep your
table in great shape.

- Products and guidance for cleaning your rails and finish
- Periodic re-leveling and service calls by our technicians
- Advice on moving or re-locating a table safely
Our service team works on many brands of pool tables throughout Greater Portland and much of Maine. If you’re not sure what your table needs,
just ask — we’re happy to talk it through.
Pool Training Tools & Fun Extras
If you’d like to sharpen your game or make your table more welcoming for guests of all ages, a few well-chosen extras can help.
- Training balls and tools to help with aim, spin, and speed control
- Short cues for tighter spaces or younger players
- Bridges and specialty cues for hard-to-reach shots
- Scorekeepers and simple add-ons that make games easier to follow
Tell us who’s playing on your table — children, guests, experienced players, or all of the above — and we’ll recommend a few extras that make the game more
fun for everyone.
Not Sure What You Need?
You don’t have to arrive with a checklist. If you’re feeling unsure, that’s exactly what we’re here for.
